On the water

The Grand Union Canal is run by the Canal & River Trust and links London with Birmingham, 137 miles away. Uxbridge Lock is on the edge of the town, with Cowley Lock the next lock south. Below it, at Cowley Peachey Junction, the Slough Arm branches west for about five miles with no locks.

The towpath moorings have no services of their own. Water, refuse and Elsan disposal are at Cowley Lock, about 45 minutes' cruise south, and the nearest pump out is at Denham Marina, about 45 minutes north. Uxbridge Boat Centre on Waterloo Road sells diesel, coal and gas.

Getting there and around

Uxbridge Underground station is the end of the Metropolitan and Piccadilly line branches, and the Uxbridge towpath moorings are about 15 minutes' walk from the town centre. Parking is the thing to check: neither the Uxbridge nor the Cowley site has its own car park.
