1. Introduction
1.1
This Cookie Policy explains how MoorHub, a trading name of Labello Enterprises Limited (company number 14582462) (“MoorHub”, “we”, “our”, “us”), uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit moorhub.co.uk and any related websites, applications and services operated by us (together, the Platform).
1.2
This Cookie Policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Website Terms of Use.
It does not repeat everything those documents say about how we handle personal data generally. This Policy deals specifically with cookies and other technologies that store information on, or access information from, your device.
1.3
Your choices in our cookie settings control whether we use optional Functionality and Analytics technologies.
Strictly necessary technologies remain active because they are required for the Platform to operate, provide requested services, maintain security or remember your cookie choices.
2. Who we are
2.1 MoorHub is operated by:
Labello Enterprises Limited
Company number: 14582462
Trading as: MoorHub
Registered office: Department Leeds Dock, 4 The Boulevard, Leeds, LS10 1PZ
References in this Policy to “MoorHub”, “we”, “our” and “us” mean Labello Enterprises Limited trading as MoorHub.
3. What are cookies and similar technologies?
3.1
Cookies are small text files stored on your computer, phone, tablet or other device when you use a website or online service.
Similar technologies can perform the same or related functions without using a conventional cookie. These include local storage, browser Cache Storage, scripts, tags, pixels and software development kits.
The UK’s Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) apply to technologies that store information on, or access information stored on, a user’s device.
In this Policy, we use the term Cookies to refer collectively to cookies and these similar storage and access technologies.
3.2
We use Cookies to:
keep you logged in and help keep the Platform secure;
remember your cookie choices;
remember certain preferences where you allow us to;
provide interactive maps and place-name search where you allow us to; and
understand how visitors use MoorHub so that we can improve the Platform, where you allow us to.
3.3
MoorHub does not currently use Cookies for advertising, retargeting or cross-site tracking.
Where we use Google Analytics, Google’s advertising-related consent signals, including ad storage, ad user data and ad personalisation, are kept switched off regardless of your Analytics choice.
If our use of Cookies changes materially, we will update this Policy and, where required, ask you to make a new choice before the relevant technologies are used.
4. The Cookies we use
4.1
The tables below describe the cookies and similar technologies currently used on the Platform.
We keep this information under review and update it when our use of Cookies changes.
4.1.1 Strictly necessary
These technologies are required for the Platform to function, maintain your session, support security or remember your cookie choices.
They cannot be switched off using MoorHub’s cookie preferences, although your browser may allow you to block or delete them. Doing so may prevent parts of the Platform from working correctly.
Cookie / technology | Purpose | Duration | Party |
sb-<project>-auth-token | Keeps you logged in and maintains your authenticated session as you move between pages. Used by Supabase, our authentication provider. The cookie may be split into numbered parts such as .0, .1 and so on where the session value is too large for a single cookie. Only set once you log in. | 7 days, renewed when your session is refreshed while you continue to use the Platform | First party |
sb-<project>-auth-token-code-verifier | Short-lived security value used when you begin certain authentication processes, including Google sign-in or a password reset, so that the process can be completed securely. | Deleted when the relevant authentication process completes; otherwise expires after up to 7 days | First party |
cookie-consent (local storage) | Records your choice for each optional cookie category, when you made that choice and the version of MoorHub’s cookie settings that applied at the time. This allows us to respect your choice without asking again on every visit. | Until you clear your browser data, or until we require a new choice following a material change to our use of Cookies | First party |
moorhub.launch-interest (Local storage) | Remembers that you closed the launch overlay or joined the launch list, so it isn't shown again. Holds only closed or joined, and is never sent to our servers. | Until you clear your browser's site data. It has no expiry date | First party |
Cloudflare Turnstile | Script and iframe loaded from | Checks that a sign-up comes from a person, not a bot, to protect the form from spam and abuse. Only loads while the overlay is open. | Third party |
4.1.2 Cross-site request forgery protection
MoorHub protects sensitive requests against cross-site request forgery by validating the origin of those requests on our servers.
We do not currently use a separate CSRF cookie for this purpose.
4.1.3 Performance and Analytics
Analytics technologies help us understand how MoorHub is used, including information such as:
pages visited;
search activity;
session and engagement information;
device and browser type;
approximate location; and
referral source.
We use this information to understand usage trends, improve the search experience, identify problems and improve the Platform.
Analytics is switched off by default.
The Google Analytics script is not loaded until you consent to the Analytics category.
Location information
Google Analytics may derive an approximate location from information such as your IP address.
MoorHub search URLs can also contain latitude and longitude values. Before page information is sent to Google Analytics, MoorHub removes the lat and lng parameters from the URL information supplied to Google Analytics.
If you selected Use my current location, the coordinates placed into the MoorHub search URL have already been rounded as described in Section 4.1.4.
Cookie / technology | Purpose | Duration | Party |
_ga | Used by Google Analytics to distinguish users so that we can measure use of the Platform in aggregate. | Up to 2 years, subject to any shorter limits imposed by your browser | First party, set through Google Analytics |
ga* | Used by Google Analytics to maintain information about sessions and interaction with the Platform. | Up to 2 years, subject to any shorter limits imposed by your browser | First party, set through Google Analytics |
Google provides further information about its use of cookies and personal data at:
policies.google.com/technologies/cookies
Google also provides a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on at:
tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
4.1.4 Functionality
Functionality technologies support optional features that make MoorHub easier to use.
They currently include:
interactive maps provided by Mapbox;
Mapbox place-name search;
a short-lived local cache of MoorHub’s public facilities list; and
remembering whether you prefer the card or list layout on your favourites page.
Functionality is switched off by default.
If you do not allow Functionality:
your MoorHub search results remain available;
interactive maps are replaced with a notice explaining that maps are disabled;
you can enable maps later if you want to;
place-name search is unavailable because converting a place name into map coordinates uses Mapbox;
you can still search using waterways and other available filters;
you can still use Use my current location; and
your favourites page opens using its default layout rather than remembering your previous choice.
4.1.5 Use my current location
The Use my current location feature uses your browser’s own location permission.
It does not use Mapbox to obtain your device’s location and does not itself store location information on your device.
We only ask your browser for your location when you actively select this option.
Before the location is placed into a MoorHub search URL or used for the search, we round the latitude and longitude to two decimal places, approximately 1 km resolution.
Further information about how MoorHub handles location information is provided in our Privacy Policy.
Mapbox
When you allow Functionality and an interactive map is loaded, your browser communicates with Mapbox to retrieve the map and related resources.
Mapbox also receives a small number of usage and performance events relating to its mapping service, including map-load information used to measure usage of that service.
Cookie / technology | Purpose | Duration | Party |
mapbox.eventData:* | Used by Mapbox in connection with operation and measurement of its mapping service, including map-load telemetry. | Until you clear your browser data or withdraw Functionality consent | Third party, Mapbox |
mapbox.eventData.uuid:* and related event-data keys | May contain a randomly generated identifier used by Mapbox when calculating aggregate usage information. MoorHub does not use this identifier to identify you or track you across other websites. | Until you clear your browser data or withdraw Functionality consent | Third party, Mapbox |
mapbox-tiles (browser Cache Storage) | Stores map resources already downloaded by your browser so they do not have to be retrieved again unnecessarily. Contains map resources rather than MoorHub account information. | Managed by your browser; deleted by MoorHub when you withdraw Functionality consent | Third party, Mapbox |
moorhub_facilities_cache_v1 (local storage) | Temporarily caches MoorHub’s public list of mooring facilities so that search filters can load more quickly. The facilities list does not contain personal data. | Refreshed after approximately 24 hours; deleted if you withdraw Functionality consent | First party |
moorhub:favourites-view (local storage) | Remembers whether you selected the card or list layout on your favourites page. It is only stored where you have allowed Functionality and changed the layout preference. | Until you clear your browser data or withdraw Functionality consent | First party |
5. Similar technologies
5.1
Some technologies described in Section 4 use local storage or browser Cache Storage rather than conventional cookies.
PECR applies to these technologies because they store information on, or access information from, your device.
Unless a different duration is stated above, browser storage may remain until:
you clear your browser or site data;
MoorHub removes it following withdrawal of the relevant consent; or
your browser removes it automatically.
5.2
MoorHub does not currently use session storage for the purposes described in this Policy.
5.3
A future MoorHub mobile application may use device storage or SDK technologies that perform functions equivalent to browser Cookies.
Where PECR requires consent, the same principles described in this Policy will apply.
6. Consent and your choices
6.1
Analytics and Functionality technologies are switched off by default and are not used until you make an affirmative choice to allow the relevant category.
When MoorHub first needs your cookie choice, our cookie banner provides the following options:
Accept all — allows Functionality and Analytics;
Reject non-essential — allows only Strictly Necessary technologies; and
Manage preferences — allows you to switch Functionality and Analytics on or off separately before saving your choice.
6.2
You can also enable Functionality directly from a disabled map by selecting Enable maps.
Doing this enables Functionality only. It does not change your Analytics choice.
6.3
Rejecting non-essential Cookies is presented as a genuine alternative to accepting them.
We do not use pre-ticked boxes or deliberately misleading controls to obtain consent.
You can change your choices at any time using Manage cookie preferences, available through the Platform and this Cookie Policy.
Withdrawing consent is intended to be as straightforward as giving it.
6.4
When you withdraw consent for a category, MoorHub stops using that category and removes the relevant MoorHub-accessible storage from your device.
Turning off Analytics causes MoorHub to:
update Google Analytics so Analytics storage is denied; and
delete Google Analytics cookies accessible to MoorHub.
Turning off Functionality causes MoorHub to delete:
Mapbox event-data local-storage items;
Mapbox’s browser map cache;
the MoorHub facilities cache; and
your saved favourites layout preference.
If a MoorHub page using Mapbox remains open in another browser tab, that page may need to be closed or reloaded for your updated choice to take full effect in that tab.
6.5
Your cookie choice, the date you made it and the version of MoorHub’s cookie settings that applied at the time are stored in your browser.
MoorHub does not hold a server-side copy of this cookie preference record.
Where we materially change:
the technologies we use;
the third parties involved;
the available categories; or
the purposes for which a technology is used,
we update our consent version and ask you to make a fresh choice rather than automatically applying an earlier choice to materially different circumstances.
6.6
Cookie preferences are stored separately on each browser and device.
If you use MoorHub on another device or browser, use private browsing, or clear your browser data, you may need to make your choices again.
7. Third-party storage and access services
7.1
Two third-party services currently store or access information on your device through MoorHub’s optional cookie categories:
Google Analytics, as described in Section 4.1.3; and
Mapbox, as described in Section 4.1.4.
Google Analytics uses first-party cookies set through the Google Analytics service.
Mapbox uses browser technologies including local storage and Cache Storage rather than relying solely on conventional cookies.
7.2
Google and Mapbox provide these services to MoorHub and process information they receive in accordance with their respective terms and privacy information.
MoorHub reviews the technologies it integrates and describes the storage and access behaviour relevant to our Platform in this Policy.
We also recommend reviewing the providers’ own privacy information for further details about their processing.
7.3
MoorHub does not load or use Google Analytics until you have allowed Analytics.
MoorHub does not load the Mapbox mapping service or send place-name searches to Mapbox until you have allowed Functionality.
8. Other service providers and externally loaded content
8.1
MoorHub also relies on service providers that support the operation of the Platform without using separate optional storage and access technologies on your device for the services described here.
These include:
Provider | Service |
Supabase | Database and authentication services, except for the authentication cookies described in Section 4.1.1 |
Vercel | Hosting and application infrastructure |
Upstash | Rate limiting and related infrastructure |
Axiom | Application logging and monitoring |
Cloudflare R2 | Image and file storage |
SMTP2GO | Email delivery |
GitHub | Services used in connection with certain MoorHub development and feedback functionality |
These providers may process information as part of delivering their services, but where they do not store information on or access information from your device through MoorHub, they are not included in the optional Cookie categories in Section 4.
Their wider processing of personal data is covered by our Privacy Policy.
8.2
The Privacy Policy contains further information about:
MoorHub’s service providers and processors;
the personal data they may receive;
where that data may be processed; and
the safeguards used for international transfers.
The Privacy Policy is the authoritative document for MoorHub’s broader processing of personal data.
8.3
Some resources may be loaded directly from third-party servers without setting a MoorHub Cookie.
When your browser requests a resource directly from another provider, that provider will normally receive technical information required to deliver it, including your IP address.
Examples currently include:
Provider / resource | When it may be loaded |
Google Fonts / Material Icons (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com) | Used to provide icon assets displayed on the Platform |
Unsplash (images.unsplash.com) | Where an Unsplash-hosted image is displayed |
Google profile images (lh3.googleusercontent.com) | Where a user signed in with Google and uses the profile image supplied by Google |
These resource requests are separate from Google Analytics.
9. How we use information collected through Cookies
9.1
Information collected through Cookies and similar technologies may be used to:
operate the Platform;
provide account and authentication functionality;
maintain security;
remember preferences;
provide optional mapping functionality;
understand how the Platform is used;
improve our search and other services;
identify and diagnose technical problems; and
comply with legal obligations.
9.2
Where information collected through a Cookie or similar technology constitutes personal data, we process it in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law.
10. Managing Cookies through your browser
10.1
Most browsers allow you to:
view cookies;
delete cookies;
block cookies;
restrict third-party cookies; and
clear other website data, including local storage and Cache Storage.
Your browser provider’s help documentation explains how to use these controls.
10.2
Blocking all Cookies or website storage at browser level may prevent parts of MoorHub from working correctly.
In particular, you may be unable to remain logged in if your browser blocks the authentication cookies required for your account session.
10.3
Some browsers can send a Do Not Track signal.
There is currently no universally accepted technical or legal standard requiring websites to treat that signal as a replacement for the specific consent controls described in this Policy.
MoorHub therefore uses the choices you make through our cookie preferences as the control for our optional Analytics and Functionality technologies.
11. International transfers
11.1
Google Analytics and Mapbox may process personal data outside the United Kingdom.
Further information about MoorHub’s international transfers and the safeguards relied upon is contained in our Privacy Policy.
The position for the two services most directly relevant to this Cookie Policy is summarised below.
Provider | Relevant category | Where processing may take place | Safeguards |
Google Analytics | Analytics | United States and other countries in which Google operates | Applicable transfer arrangements, including the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where available, with contractual safeguards used where appropriate |
Mapbox | Functionality | United States and other locations used to provide Mapbox infrastructure and content delivery | Applicable transfer arrangements, including the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where available and contractual safeguards under Mapbox’s applicable data-processing terms |
11.2
Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, the transfer must be protected in accordance with UK data protection law.
Depending on the destination and provider, this may include:
a UK adequacy regulation or data bridge;
the UK International Data Transfer Agreement;
the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses; or
another lawful transfer mechanism.
11.3
For the complete position covering MoorHub’s service providers, processors and international transfers, please refer to the Privacy Policy.
12. Your rights and how to complain
12.1
Where our use of Cookies involves processing personal data, you have the data-protection rights described in our Privacy Policy.
You can withdraw consent to optional Cookies at any time as described in Section 6.
12.2
If you believe MoorHub has not respected your cookie choices or data-protection rights, you can contact us using the details in Section 14.
We would appreciate the opportunity to investigate and address your concern.
12.3
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Further information is available at:
ico.org.uk
ICO telephone: 0303 123 1113
13. Changes to this Cookie Policy
13.1
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, including where:
the Cookies or similar technologies used by MoorHub change;
we introduce or remove a service provider;
the purposes for which a technology is used change;
applicable law or regulatory guidance changes; or
we need to improve or clarify the information in this Policy.
13.2
Where a change materially affects the basis on which you previously made a cookie choice, we will ask you to choose again before relying on your previous preference for the changed use.
13.3
The current version of this Cookie Policy will be available through the Platform.
